About: About
Guitar Lesson

Every musician is unique, and success looks different to each of us. Instead of trying to fit everyone into the same rigid course structure, we believe in goal orientated learning.

Learn with an experienced mentor who creates  personalised lesson plans made just for YOU. They will provide resources and guidance across multiple areas of music performance, music theory, music production, and industry know-how.

We want to inspire you, guide you, and support you to get wherever you want to go.

All about YOU!

How does it work?

Choose Your Electives

To start, you choose one or more topics you're interested in from our range of electives.

Choose Your Format

We offer lessons both in-person in Pascoe Vale South, Melbourne and online, depending on your preferences and what is possible within social distancing restrictions.

Complete Your Weekly Goals

During your mentorship, your tutor will keep you motivated and on-track by providing weekly goals and exercises as well as additional materials including charts, worksheets, and instructional videos.

Set Your Goals

Tell us what you want to achieve, and what’s important to you as a musician. Together with your mentor, build a lesson plan based on the electives you have chosen, your unique goals, needs, and learning style.

Start Your Lessons

From here you will begin your one-on-one music lessons. We recommend an hour-long lesson per week, but you can discuss alternative options with your tutor.

Evaluate Your Progress

As you progress, you can continue to personalise your lessons as you go, regularly discussing and re-evaluating your goals and electives with your tutor. This will ensure that you’re always headed in the direction that feels right to you!

Your Mentor

Hi, my name is Dylan Pinkerton and I’m the founder of  YOU Music Mentorship. For me, mentoring up-and-coming musicians is more than just telling them what to play, it’s about building a persons' confidence and supporting them to explore their own creativity, while providing the foundational skills which will help them achieve their musical goals.

Music is my passion, and over the span of my career I have always enjoyed helping students to find their own passion in music. Whether it be guitar lessons, music production lessons or anything else music related, my teaching style is down to earth, caring, and supportive.

I have over a decade of experience in the music industry as a touring performer, songwriter, sound engineer and music teacher. I completed my degree in contemporary music at Southern Cross University, and also received scholarships to study abroad at Appalachian State University in North Carolina.

I teach both acoustic guitar and electric guitar lessons in styles such as Pop, Folk, Celtic, Rock, Blues, Classical, Jazz, RnB, Country, Finger Style, Travis Picking and many more. I am a multi-instrumentalist, so I also offer guidance on drums, bass, vocals and mandolin. As a dedicated singer/songwriter, I can guide students through the entire process of music creation, from the basics of musical composition to the art of recording and producing songs to release. For students interested in sound engineering, I offer lessons in industry standard programs such as Logic Pro X, Pro Tools, Ableton and Garage Band.

I believe that the path to musical success should be paved with laughter and joy, and this is the philosophy I bring into every music lesson. Book now to start your journey!

Sincerely,

Dylan.
